Warwick Grosvenor Named New Scunthorpe Alphas Head Coach

The Scunthorpe Alphas are pleased to confirm the appointment of Warwick Grosvenor as the new Head Coach for our adult team.

He takes over from Coach Alex Robson, who stepped down this summer after a highly-successful spell that saw him lead the Alphas to two division titles, three playoff appearances, one promotion and an unbeaten season.

Warwick is one of the founding fathers of the Scunthorpe Alphas, having been part of the group that initially launched the team back in 2018, ending the sport’s almost 30-year absence from the town.

He has served the club as both a player and coach during this time, and last season he stepped in as interim Head Coach during Coach Robson’s absence, leading Scunthorpe to a 62-7 win over the Shropshire Revolution in the playoffs.

After weeks of discussions, the Scunthorpe Alphas Management Team determined Warwick was the man to lead the senior team on a permanent basis.

“It is truly an honour to be appointed as Head Coach of this team,” said Warwick. “I’m stepping into some seriously big shoes. I’d like to thank Coach Robson for the foundation he laid over the past years, and I hope to continue his legacy and do him proud.

“Having been part of the group that founded the team six years ago, I’ve seen and been part of the journey from the very start. It is an incredible programme to be a part of, and I am beyond proud of what we have achieved so far. I’m honoured to be entrusted with taking the wheel for the next stage of that journey. But we are far from finished.

“The culture of this team has always been the cornerstone of everything we do, and I don’t intend or want that to change. On top of that, the work of #SettingTheTable for 2025 has already begun. Behind the scenes, moves are being made. One thing I can promise to all current and future Alphas…you won’t find a Head Coach anywhere who cares more or works harder.”

“Warwick eats, sleeps and breathes Scunthorpe Alphas football – there is nobody more committed to this club,” read a statement from the management team. “He has served with distinction in every role he has undertaken and we have no doubts that he will now show that same passion, drive and commitment as our Head Coach.

“We would also like to take one more opportunity to thank Coach Robson and his family for everything they have done for this club over the years, both on the sidelines and behind the scenes. They set a high standard that everyone at the club aims to live up to going forward, and they will forever be part of the Alphas Family.”
